Lorene,
An excellent book to learn about real people doing really hard jobs who deserve our respect。
Karen,
Good stories, told by those telling their tales。 Worth reading!
Ron,
“Walk The Blue Line” is an interesting book。 It is a book filled with true experiences that law enforcement officers have had。 The stories are all short, not over a few pages each in true Patterson’s style of writing。
Tim Ristow,
Purple stuffed gorilla。 Remember that。 If your heart isn’t in your throat after reading that story from Laura McCord, then check your humanity。 This book is filled with many powerful stories of people who live to serve, protect and defend。 That one in particular still resonates in my mind。 God bless the men and women of law enforcement and thank you for all you do。
Jacquelyn Burks,
Did I stay awake until almost 3 to finish the individual stories in this one book。 Absolutely。 I work with officers and firefighters and EMS every day I’m at work。 But still reading some of these stories reminds me that these men and women risk their lives every single day, and they are people too。
Jane B,
I have been very dismayed by the stories in the news about the conduct of many police officers around the US。 I decided to read this particular book to see if hearing the voices of the officers would make me think differently。 What it did do was reinforce the culture of keeping emotions down, not seeking help for PTSD。 So many officers described。how they went into police work to make a difference and help people and how they changed over time to become hardened officers with little empathy。 I do I have been very dismayed by the stories in the news about the conduct of many police officers around the US。 I decided to read this particular book to see if hearing the voices of the officers would make me think differently。 What it did do was reinforce the culture of keeping emotions down, not seeking help for PTSD。 So many officers described。how they went into police work to make a difference and help people and how they changed over time to become hardened officers with little empathy。 I don’t know what the answer is。 I can understand how the daily interactions with criminals, drugs, violence and cruelty and can change an idealistic young officer。 I wish I knew the answer。 I do appreciate the opportunity to reflect on this issue without the sensationalism of the media。 。。。more

Lance Barber,
I thoroughly enjoyed this book。 One of the few books for me that I never wanted to put down。 I understand the overall subject of this book has been under a lot of scrutiny over the past several years。 However, I would challenge anyone who is critical of the police force to sit down and read this book。 They are stories from officers around the nation, some will fill you with hope and others with sadness, but all will leave you with a better understanding of the people who do this day in and day o I thoroughly enjoyed this book。 One of the few books for me that I never wanted to put down。 I understand the overall subject of this book has been under a lot of scrutiny over the past several years。 However, I would challenge anyone who is critical of the police force to sit down and read this book。 They are stories from officers around the nation, some will fill you with hope and others with sadness, but all will leave you with a better understanding of the people who do this day in and day out。 *Warning* for officers who have gone through a traumatic event there maybe stories in here that are triggering。 But I still recommend it be read, it may help you deal with your demons and struggles。 。。。more

Marion Jones,
Walk the Blue Line was an eye-opening read。 It is filled with short chapters, giving insight into the lives of many different LEOs。 In light of the recent activities of some LEOs, this is a good read allowing others to see what is experienced by many of those who are working to protect, serve and defend。 It takes a special person to do this type of job。 And what we must remember is that if they are bad officers, chances are they were bad people to begin with。 We also need to look at the person n Walk the Blue Line was an eye-opening read。 It is filled with short chapters, giving insight into the lives of many different LEOs。 In light of the recent activities of some LEOs, this is a good read allowing others to see what is experienced by many of those who are working to protect, serve and defend。 It takes a special person to do this type of job。 And what we must remember is that if they are bad officers, chances are they were bad people to begin with。 We also need to look at the person not the uniform。 They are human beings: someone’s son, brother, husband, father。 These stories will give you a glimpse into what it takes to put on that uniform and walk out the door knowing that every situation will be different and one could result in your death。 Thank you to NetGalley, James Patterson and the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to review this book。 。。。more
Fre-Leigh Lyons-Hamm,
It’s a very quick read with actually officers true stories about protecting and serving communities。 It really makes you think what they have to deal with when dealing with the public。
Austin Raber,
Interesting stories about police officer's jobs。 There's some great stories in this book。The writing style did not do a lot to help the stories though。 First, the book has very short chapters, each dedicated to a different police officer。 Which means that you're constantly switching settings and never really learn to know one officer or his situation very well。 Second, the book is written from a first person point of view。 Great if you want to hear from the people that are actually doing this st Interesting stories about police officer's jobs。 There's some great stories in this book。The writing style did not do a lot to help the stories though。 First, the book has very short chapters, each dedicated to a different police officer。 Which means that you're constantly switching settings and never really learn to know one officer or his situation very well。 Second, the book is written from a first person point of view。 Great if you want to hear from the people that are actually doing this stuff。 But it could have been edited more thoroughly。 I found myself stumbling over a fair number of incomplete and unrelated stories and wading through a lot of writing that obviously wasn't written by practiced authors。 。。。more
Pauline Spurlock,
Wasn’t my cup of tea。 Just went through a few chapters and decided not to bother reading it anymore。 Small chapters about individuals becoming a police officer and a few more facts。 No real meat。
Darren,
I enjoyed reading this book。 It is a good non fiction book about police officers that are from the United States。
Nicole Mason,
The fake, over dramatic accents are ridiculous and absolutely RUINED the audiobook and wasted my $25。 Horrible!
